Nahanni & Mahikan

June 10, 2014 – Since the last post, we have taken the 2 pups with walks alongside the bigger wolfdogs. Nahanni & Mahikan are getting better on the leash. They like to explore & keeping up with the older dogs is not the priority but then Mahikan will launch into full sprint mode to catch up. Nahanni likes to climb up the rock work. Wolves love to be up high.

It is now day 3 that the 4 wolfdogs have been together. The 2 pups love to engage with the older dogs at 5AM & that will last for 15 minutes & then they learn to go off on their own. They romp around from one part of the large run to the other, playing with different toys in various sections. It is apparent from their play that they really enjoy it here and being with the older wolfdogs is special.

Nahanni & Mahikan are going to be a good couple. They play hard & rough but they always want to be with each other. Yesterday morning, Tundra was being a bit rough with Mahikan & Nahanni came running up for her defence. I could tell by his actions, he was coming to protect her. Tundra backed off interacting with Mahikan. And he is only 8 weeks old!

Nahanni weighed in at 19lb. last nite. He has gained 9lb. in less than 3 weeks and has almost doubled his weight in that period. Mahikan is 12.6lb. and she is almost double her weight since I brought her home. She is getting tall as you can see her legs grow.

Well they are in bed in the trailer but it will be very soon & they will be sleeping outside in the kennel.
